8/4/03 - Friends of MCJAC forming

A group dedicated to promoting the work of MCJAC and raising funds to support program services, training and educational outreach is forming.  Volunteers will help plan and carry out fundraising and outreach events.  For further information on how you can become part of this fun, talented and energetic group, call (360)  570-5137.

3/1/03  Merger with Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason & Thurston Counties

Effective 3/1/03, Monarch Children's Justice & Advocacy Center is a program of the Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason & Thurston Counties.  The merger was approved by the boards of both agencies and will result in lower administrative costs for MCJAC, a stronger fiscal base for MCJAC and opportunities for expanded services for both agencies.

Community Action Council of Lewis, Mason & Thurston Counties is a private, non-profit agency with a 30+ year history of providing services to low- and moderate-income individuals and families in the three county area.  Services include Energy Assistance, Weatherization, Commodity Food Distribution, WIC, First Steps Case Management and other services designed to assist people to meet basic needs.

There will be no visible change to the public, as Monarch's location, partnerships and program services will remain the same as before the merger.  The most notable change will be in a reduction of overhead expenses and increased opportunities for partnership through CAC's various programs.  All funds designated by donors to Monarch will remain dedicated to that program.

For more information about this merger, please contact John Walsh, Executive Director, CACLMT at (360)  438-1100.
